Thanksgiving In North Carolina
Posted in Mobile, Review on November 28th, 2008 by adminI’m not going to lie, at first I wasn’t too excited to be coming here. I thought it was somewhat silly to have Thanksgiving dinner so far from home, but Mom had her reasons and I understand why it was hard for her to have it there. Once I spent the day here I realized that I was being selfish. I wanted the comforts of home and I was upset to leave them. Now, I’m happy I’m here.
The cabin is big and beautiful, and currently sleeping four. We are tucked away from everyone and there is a stillness in the air you don’t get at home. Grandpa has found some fishing, us “kids” have found the night sky and everyone is finding that having the company of each other is all the entertainment we need.
Don’t get me wrong. It was fun to play, and almost win, Scrabble. It was fun taking a car trip to Cheerokee and looking around at the shops. But that stuff is really only fun because we have each other to do these things with. Looking up the night sky, and seeing shooting stars, is only fun when you have someone to look with you, someone to point things out to you and someone to point things out to.
Not that I wouldn’t come here alone. It would be the perfect place to come and spend some alone time and try to work it all out, but that isn’t what this trip is about. It’s about family. One day I’ll bring my son here, to Fontana Lake, and we can look at the stars together. Maybe we can also do some fishing.
It is the perfect spot to get away from it all because even now I can’t get cell service without traveling up the side of the mountain or driving a mile away. That isn’t to say the place is barren with no amenities. Again, the cabin is big and nice, with enough stuff to put on one hell of a meal. And we spent at least an hour in the hot tub, that is on our porch, today.
I think I’ll be coming back on my own if we don’t turn this into a regular thing.

World of Warcraft Wrath of The Lich King (WotLK) Night and Day
Posted in Kinda Lame, Screenshot, World of Warcraft on November 25th, 2008 by adminThis past Sunday I pulled off a total of 12 hours of (almost) straight World of Warcraft play, and for this I’m proud. (Screenshots below)
Below are just a few of the WoW achievements I, or Henzod rather, attained this weekend:
- General:
- Going Down? – I jumped down onto the rising elevator in Warsong Hold and lived, somehow.
- Dungeons:
- Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom – Completed this one with the guild (<EPIC FAIL>).
- Azjol-Nerub – Also completed with the guild
- The Nexus – Got a nice pug group with a Death Knight to tank.
- The Violet Hold – Different pug group, different Death Knight.
- Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom – Completed this one with the guild (<EPIC FAIL>).
- Exploration:
- Explore Howling Fjord – A lot of running around, my last stop was the island north of Utgarde Keep – and on accident.

- Quests
- 1000 Quests Completed – This likely should have been completed before the last expansion, but I didn’t quest much from 56 to 60. I “grinded” Argent Dawn rep and XP for days.

- Professions
- Working Night and Day – Cost a few hundred gold, but I leveled up just enough to become a Grand Master Leatherworker. Skinning was the easy (and free) one to level.
Those go with the (fun) PVP Achievements I earned in a single match:
- Capture the Flag: Capture the flag in Warsong Gulch.
- Ironman: Capture and carry the flag three times in Warsong Gulch without dying.
- Warsong Gulch Perfection: Win Warsong Gulch with a score of 3 to 0

IHOP on Sunday
Posted in Photo on November 9th, 2008 by adminYum, those Stuffed French Toast and eggs were good. I wish this place was closer to home so I could have breakfast (lunch and dinner) here everyday.

Posted in Lame, News, Rant on November 3rd, 2008 by adminI just saw, in southwest Ohio, a commercial funded by The National Republican Trust PAC that finally broke the silence in the national campaign about the “relationship” between Rev. Wright’s comments and Obama’s views on how to run the country. It was pretty fiery, and not by McCain.
How tricky it is. The night before the election and on in the swing states. Sounds like people are getting scared.
Update: It’s running a lot now and it worries me because people are dumb.
