You might as well get it out of the way and realize it’s Katrina all over again. These poor birds were living their lives and got covered in oil and now they are in the jail known as the Sherburne Wildlife Area. Why is everyone being shipped out of Louisiana? Did we sell it back 10 years ago and this is all part of the final steps? Now all of New Orleans, and now these poor birds are being “cleaned up” and shipped away – in this case a total of 80 whole kilometers! It’s very sad, serious business;

“He is scoping around his new home,” Sharon Taylor, a Corrections Officer with the US Fish and Wildlife Marshal Service, says of the prisoner.

The bird then took a few steps into fenced in cage before trying out his wings. His smaller companion followed a few minutes later.

“They look right at home here,” said Taylor, surrounded by fencing dotted by hardened birds.

So in the age of digital cameras people are still dumb enough to take photographs of their crimes with film and have them processed by strangers:

A southern Ontario woman suing Black’s Photography over pictures of her marijuana plants will have to produce the photos in court.

Agnieska Wojtanowska says Black’s violated her Charter rights back in 2001 when a worker handed the photos over to police.

Drug charges were later dropped when the pictures were excluded as evidence because they were obtained without a search warrant.

It’s a take that we haven’t heard before, but it somewhat makes sense. I think first though we need to get these new journalists to move to other mediums.

Society doesn’t need newspapers. What we need is journalism. For a century, the imperatives to strengthen journalism and to strengthen newspapers have been so tightly wound as to be indistinguishable. That’s been a fine accident to have, but when that accident stops, as it is stopping before our eyes, we’re going to need lots of other ways to strengthen journalism instead.

When we shift our attention from “save newspapers” to “save society”, the imperative changes from “preserve the current institutions” to “do whatever works.” And what works today isn’t the same as what used to work.

iTunes 8.1 refused to install on my Windows 7 machine repeatedly – now I get the failure shown below. But to be fair, my buddy is getting all sorts of Sidebar errors under Windows Vista Business;

The simple act of plugging in the iPhone usually goes without a hitch. After installing iTunes 8.1 (x86, Windows 7) I think the phone is detected five out of ten times. The bigger issue is that this is how I charge the sucker! It doesn't charge when the device isn't detected. *Grumpy Gills*

Here is the error my buddy gets today: "The Sidebar gadget "" seems unresponsive. Would you like want to close it to ensure stability of the Sidebar?" Good job on the grammar Microsoft. See below for how to reproduce it.

Per our Skype conversation here is how to reproduce the error:

[7:15:42 PM] MNsh: umm thats a vista business error

[7:15:57 PM] MNsh: i booted my laptop with 3 monitors and it wasnt having it

[7:16:35 PM] MNsh: we have a usb hook up to have 3 montiors and i put the sidebar on the third and it gave that error on startup
