SWTOR SITH SORCERER TALENT CALCULATOR

This will no doubt change as the game is updated, class stats are tweaked by Bioware and play style changes – but I am loving the Sith Sorcerer class and thus far this seems like the most fun tree to play. I am liking the healing from periodic (damage) spell effects in PVP – though I don’t, yet, want this character to be a healer so I’m only focusing on those boosts to myself. Affliction + Carrying the Huttball.

The Ubuntu Linux distribution simply does not want you to create a password for the user ROOT and descend upon the system with a flurry of commands. Read any Ubuntu Forums or Ubuntu-related blog posting and you’ll see a series of help or HOWTO steps that require you to prefix each with the command “sudo“. Which, provided you are a part of the admin group, sudo will allow you tp perform any ROOT or super user task as if you were one.

It is good advice not to break the default security system of Ubuntu by creating a root account that can be directly logged into. Selected users instead elevate themselves as ROOT during specific tasks through the sudo, gksudo and kdesu command containers. However this raises two issues;

• If operators are operating as ROOT, as part of the Ubuntu admin group, they must have secure passwords consisting of a variety of character types, and be lengthy (numbers, letters of mixed case and symbols). It is important to otherwise give access as needed to these users when it comes to various network services. Disable SSH logins if the user does not need it for example, and definitely do not allow them to access the system via FTP which will send their user password in the clear. If these accounts are able to be easily accessed they can do as much damage as if they were the ROOT user – the systems depends on each of the admin group’s users own security practices.
• Meanwhile there arises times where directly operating as ROOT at the command prompt will be desired as many commands are involved in the solution, hack or upgrade the system administrator would like to commit. and using the command example below you can temporary become the ROOT user and do just what Ubuntu wanted to avoid removing the su command – run a flurry of commands as ROOT.

First reach a terminal prompt, in the example below we are going to use Gnome Terminal. Once you’ve opened the terminal up to the command prompt issue the command:

sudo -i

Execute the command "sudo -i" as an admin group user at the Ubuntu command prompt to elevate your terminal session to become the ROOT user.

Then provide your user password;

Next you’ll see your console prompt change in two ways (provided you have not changed from the BASH shell). You will first notice that the user prefix now reads “root” and next you may notice that the last character of the prompt has changed from a dollar sign, $, to the number or pound sign, #. See the example below compared to the first screenshot where we showed the user john issuing the sudo -i command.

There is now a security risk in t hat, I assume, you could lean on the keyboard or the cats can walk on it and accidentally “rm -rf /“ your entire installation. As a secondary way to show that you are in fact the super user the Gnome Terminal window title will then change to read as who you are logged in as – root;

Olivia Munn - Espionage Correspondent

Praise Allah, Jesus and L. Ron Hubbard! Olivia Munn, the sexy German-Irish-Chinese goddess looks to be a new corespondent on The Daily Show. This has to be groundbreaking for her, to get on another channel than G4, even if it is Comedy Central. Don’t get me wrong, Attack of the Show is great, her and Kevin Pereira are great together – but any time we get to see more of her and people start asking for more only good things can happen.

Apparently though, this is not her first appearance on the show, I just had no idea. Excuse me while I continue to overreact.

I went over to Wolfram Alpha today and gave it a simple question, that was able to be answered on The Instance (a World of Warcraft podcast) in seconds flat – “How Much Mur, Could a Murloc Loc, If a Murloc Could Loc Mur?”

The service’s data is incredibly limited at this point, though, which isn’t surprising. The father of the project, controversial scientist Stephen Wolfram, says this isn’t a finished product. So many of the queries even that the company suggests trying with WA simply don’t work yet. The question is whether they ever will – from an outside perspective, it feels like the kind of project that could require immense amounts of human work.

iTunes 8.1 refused to install on my Windows 7 machine repeatedly – now I get the failure shown below. But to be fair, my buddy is getting all sorts of Sidebar errors under Windows Vista Business;

The simple act of plugging in the iPhone usually goes without a hitch. After installing iTunes 8.1 (x86, Windows 7) I think the phone is detected five out of ten times. The bigger issue is that this is how I charge the sucker! It doesn't charge when the device isn't detected. *Grumpy Gills*

Here is the error my buddy gets today: "The Sidebar gadget "" seems unresponsive. Would you like want to close it to ensure stability of the Sidebar?" Good job on the grammar Microsoft. See below for how to reproduce it.

This past Sunday I pulled off a total of 12 hours of (almost) straight World of Warcraft play, and for this I’m proud. (Screenshots below)

Below are just a few of the WoW achievements I, or Henzod rather, attained this weekend:

• General:
  • Going Down? – I jumped down onto the rising elevator in Warsong Hold and lived, somehow.
• Dungeons:
  • Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom – Completed this one with the guild (<EPIC FAIL>).
    
  • Azjol-Nerub – Also completed with the guild
    
  • The Nexus – Got a nice pug group with a Death Knight to tank.
    
  • The Violet Hold – Different pug group, different Death Knight.
    
• Exploration:
  • Explore Howling Fjord – A lot of running around, my last stop was the island north of Utgarde Keep – and on accident.
    
• Quests
  • 1000 Quests Completed – This likely should have been completed before the last expansion, but I didn’t quest much from 56 to 60. I “grinded” Argent Dawn rep and XP for days.
    
• Professions
  • Working Night and Day – Cost a few hundred gold, but I leveled up just enough to become a Grand Master Leatherworker. Skinning was the easy (and free) one to level.

Those go with the (fun) PVP Achievements I earned in a single match:

• Capture the Flag: Capture the flag in Warsong Gulch.
• Ironman: Capture and carry the flag three times in Warsong Gulch without dying.
• Warsong Gulch Perfection: Win Warsong Gulch with a score of 3 to 0

After nine hours of play I find myself in The Violet Hold bringing the pain.

After ten hours of play I find that it's time to slow down and check out and scan the auction house.

View GPS Data With Exif Viewer 1.45

Ever wonder where someone’s photo was taken, or with what camera? On this site you can see those details with a Firefox add-on; Exif Viewer 1.45. You can see the camera make and model as well as the resolution with this cool tool – but the coolest feature by far is the ability to click a link and see where on Google Maps, Google Earth, Mapquest and others where the picture was taken. See the cool screenshot.

Not to be outdone there is a similar plug-in for Internet Explorer. You can view Exif information in IE with Exif Viewer by Opanda (IExif).

I like this new system of achievement points in World of Warcraft, you finally get noted for things like carrying the Warsong Gulch flag three times without dying. ([Ironman], screenshot below).
And yes that was the three to zero game. I carried it straight from the start to the end without a drop, although I was being beat upon. Good times.
