A Tory councillor has been arrested over claims he suggested on Twitter that Yasmin Alibai-Brown, a female newspaper columnist, should be stoned to death.

If that wasn’t enough, he is also suspected of creating three Facebook groups in which he sarcastically declared himself God and ordered his followers, among other things, to smoke marijuana in verses that spoof the Muslim holy book, the Quran. At its peak, Husayin’s Arabic-language blog had more than 70,000 visitors, overwhelmingly from Arab countries.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown today, who is polling third behind his opponents in the election, called a female candidate a bigoted woman in private remarks which were recorded and played back to him on the BBC. He swiftly apologized but it’s sure to sting a little longer though his apology was accepted by his opponent.

Edit: I fail, the woman was just some random bigot who was out getting bread and milk. I read another story that claimed she was a candidate.

For television viewers, one of the day’s most excruciating moments came when a BBC Radio announcer told Brown that he had a tape recording of the private conversation and played it back for him. In what could become a defining image of the election, Brown, whose party is running third in most opinion polls, buried his head in his hands.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer the Bengals wide-receiver is a famly man. Of course the readers said ‘not so fast’, in droves. Good thing the national media hasn’t forgotten that he was released after five arrests. Even a story today about his fresh broken arm references it.

Henry was a key part of the 2005 Bengals team that made the playoffs, but fell out of favor because of five arrests.

Pitney-gate: Why Is Huffington Post Getting Called On At White House Pressers?

First I have to say it’s a teaser because I saw no mention of this story in the actual e-mail. Secondly, maybe it has something to do with the huge sum of money recently invested in the Huffington Post ($15 million!), money which didn’t come from the White House and the taxpayer.

Why not reward an American company that is out there doing it without asking for a bailout and a media company that isn’t about to go under? (see: American Newspapers) Now this isn’t the reason that Obama called on Pitney, it was because they knew he had a real question. But the above is just my 2 cents.
