Food. Meat. Protein. It was a great day, but for other reasons: Brazilian Steakhouse. If you haven’t been to one of these things you have to make it soon. Meat. Sticks. Slices. They bring meats of differing cuts and sources to your table, pork tenderloin to beef ribs, and you nod yes if you’re interested and nod no if you aren’t. It’s that simple and a million times more tasty. The cuts that they serve are great for some of, what we assume are their own, secret reasons, but delicious. The house specialty at this place (Boizao, Tampa Flordia) is the flank steak and the greatest single piece of meat you’ll ever have. The beef ribs also good, and I have to admit I’ve never had the chance to try beef ribs before today, tasted like homemade roast and was that juicy and soft. When you first get there you enjoy a barrage of meats and you are just dazzled. You don’t miss anything and are offered some things three times. Even at the close of the meal I was told they could get anything I liked brought. :*
My first full day away was good because of that one fact, I was away. No work, no worries. It’s amazing how quickly you forget about the silly things you left behind. Things that were on my mind even on the trip down are forgotten and life has moved on, without issue. I woke up late, which I’m going to blame on the drive in, and it didn’t matter much. It’s not like the normal weekend sleep-in either, your two day excursion isn’t ruined, you still have the rest of the week to play. And today was play. I made it to the beach and it was nice to casually have a few beers in the process. The sound of the water futilly rushing to the shore always puts me in another state of mind and today was no exception. The beach is also a good introduction into not caring what you look like or how you may smell. You know that your hair is having a spasm because it’s wet and there are the most serene winds, that happen to love you but hates hair, and that doesn’t matter because you’ve found a happy place.

I’m sitting at a greasy spoon type of lunch counter somewhere in Tennessee and even though it has a scary vibe I feel more American here than I have at any Civil War park I’d been to as a kid. There is something about the classic waitress, the short order cook and the sound of things being grilled and fried that lets you know you’re home. You want a cup me coffee in that tiny cup, to get the big breakfast special, you want to see the two robbers from Pulp Fiction (I only get truck drivers and the most desperate looking guy in state sitting opposite of my spot at the counter). Well my burger and fries are here… See you later.
I don’t think there are rest areas in the state of Tennessee. I sure wish there were.
Update: There isn’t!
It’s a dark lonely existance, but the senses are overloaded with the surrounding information and the vital data needed to navigate the road. (North of Renfro Valley Kentucky/Mount Vernon)
I should be leaving town in about 10 hours! See you suckers next week, watch here for some mobile blogging.
